Il Conte Stella Rosa Peach

If you read our last Stella Rosa review, it may surprise you that we went for another Stella Rosa wine. But this was done on a recommendation from a family member who convinced me to give Stella another shot. And I'm not mad about it. The peach was much better than the plain moscato. It just so happened that I made homemade pizza with grilled peach and prosciutto when we were planning on drinking this, so it turned out really meshing well with the pizza ingredients.

Name: Stella Rosa Stella Peach

Price: Around $9 from Total Wine

Alcohol Content: 5%

Residual Sugar: 10%

Vintage: Not given, which usually means the grapes used were from a variety of years.

TLDR: Yay!

Winery: Stella Rosa Wines are part of the Riboli Family Wines (covered in previous post). The Stella Rosa line is imported from Piedmont Italy, known for their muscat grapes which we covered in the last post. It is imported by Il Conte Imports in California.

Varietal: Flavored Sparkling Wine with a blend of grapes including moscato. As discussed before, the moscato grape is the ancestral papa of all the wine grapes. The other grapes in this blend are not given, but I was disappointed to learn they do add a blend of peach flavors to the wine and I don't know how I feel about it. I get that it's probably impossible to get grapes to taste like peaches (DUH), and that the flavors added are (hopefully) all natural straight peach juice, but it still feels like I'm cheating on grapes and good wines.

Bottle Description: *** Just a heads up, this description sounds ALOT like the the description from the Stella Moscato.

"Grapes for our delicious Stella Rosa Peach are harvested from beautiful vineyards. A refreshing white combined with natural flavors of ripe peaches. Serve chilled with fresh fruit, cheese, spicy cuisine, and desserts."

Color: Pale Straw

Nose: It's like sniffing a raw peach with sugar on it. YUM.

Taste: It tastes like it smells. It has a great sweetness, like you just bit into one of those peach ring candies. The bubbles were nicely balanced with the fruity flavors. It had medium acidity, so it makes your mouth water quite a bit. It had no tannin, so no dry mouth feel. It also has a very mild granny smith apple taste to it.

Finish: The finish was mild and pleasant. You get some slight honey on the end.

Food Pairing: As mentioned above, I made homemade pizza before drinking this. One was pepperoni, and the other was a peach, onion, and prosciutto (super salty), so I guess we got the majority of pairings in this one meal. The pepperoni toned down the peach flavor and brought out the bubbles, which was pleasant. The peach on the other pizza brought out the peach flavor while the salt on the prosciutto balanced it really well. Overall, super tasty.
